HC are a garden design and landscape company specialising in bespoke, multi-seasonal projects. Located beside the Christmas tree farm on Blenheim Palace estate, we operate out of our Design Barn as a closely knit team. We pride ourselves on building the projects that we design so this means that projects are managed in house from our studio, workshop and nursery at the barn. Beyond our team we only work with our trusted network of technicians, contractors and artists on site. This results in distinctive gardens and landscapes with sustainability and originality at their core across the UK.

The HC story

Nick and Adrienne are the founders of HC. They have devoted their lives to building a design led business that creates innovative outdoor places grounded in sustainable living. They forged their creative partnership over twenty years ago when they originally met at The Surrey University of Art & Design. Although their lives prior spanned very different ranges of creative experiences and disciplines, they realised fully then that they both loved working as part of a collaborative team. Combined with a pursuit of their shared love of the outdoors, they set up Hendy Curzon Gardens and quickly established a reputation for high quality projects delivered with an exemplary level of service and attention to detail.

The HC projects since have spanned a diverse range of briefs resulting in each one always carrying the signature of its own individual style. The team continues to design these highly landscaped and greenscaped spaces, always striving to let every one of them tell a story, both for their clients and for future generations to come.

Many HC projects have been featured in a range of press and publications such as Dezeen, House & Garden, Ideal Homes, The Oxford Times, Real Homes and Architectural Digest USA. A selection have been published in international landscaping books including the HC revival and reclamation of great British home fronts and a design series on water gardens.

Socially you can follow on Instagram and Facebook and HC’s clients’ projects are regularly featured in Houzz articles and design blogs.

Meet the Team

The core team members that create each project, alongside other integral members of the installation teams on site.

Nick Hendy

Landscape Designer & Construction Director

Nick brings a unique perspective to any given landscape due to his diverse design led career, which originated in the film industry. He achieved his BA Honours Degree in lighting and camera going on to work as a lighting technician and a documentary cameraman. His natural aptitude for technical construction combined with years of hands on experience as a landscape designer enables him to create innovative projects that are grounded in realistic technical possibility. Nick is a perfectionist driven by a passion for landscapes and landart.

Adrienne Curzon

Landscape Designer & Creative Director

Adrienne heads up the creative and horticultural side of HC, continually drawing on her diversely creative background and skills. Once achieving her BA Honours Degree in Art Direction, and prior to setting up HC with Nick, her work spanned set construction and assistant art direction for television and advertising. A deep affinity with nature gives Adrienne the ability to harness plants into tools to design with, creating painterly landscapes and domestic gardens full of stylish floral couture. She is constantly researching and testing - seeking out the unusual, forgotten and sublime.

Sophie White

Project Manager

Sophie has been with HC for over six years and has grown with the company. She has a full satellite view of projects and client knowledge, which is down to her extensive studio management and on site experience. Sophie adores nature and the outdoors which consolidates her position. She is assertive and proactive, with a talent to always apply positivity to the many facets of her project management work. It is fair to say that Sophie has her finger firmly on the pulse of the company.

Christina Clarke

Studio Manager

Christina thrives on the diversity and fast pace of her role as Studio Manager. As a highly disciplined and organised individual she runs a very tight ship, managing all staff, suppliers and clients. Christina applies the same level of attention to our nursery, as she does to all the people and projects under her care. She also possesses a deep appreciation for the arts and ecocentric design. All of this, combined with a 'roll your sleeves' up attitude makes Christina integral to the core of the company.

Maria Laskey

Maria is the HC Colonel of attention to detail and refinement. Ever the diplomat, she loves every aspect of her job on site and always commands the best from any team in her detail. Her love and growing knowledge of plants is consummate. Maria always has her eye on the main goal which is to create extraordinary gardens and landscapes for HC clients. She will work tirelessly and beyond to achieve whatever the client and company needs and wants.

James Clarke

James came to HC over five years ago and is one of our principal landscapers. His attention to detail, tidiness and plantsman skills are exemplary. Even though he is a talented landscaper on all fronts, he remains a true caretaker of the plants and trees on every site and every project.

Barry John Jones

Barry cares about putting his best skills to use and working efficiently. A very 'can-do' attitude combined with an economy of words makes Barry a very efficient landscaper. His heart definitely leans towards the hardscaping and construction aspects of the company's projects, but he always applies as much care and attention towards plants.

Design Barn Custodians

"Hendy Curzon have kindly designed and constructed two major projects in our garden. On each occasion the team who worked here were a delight, and we are thrilled with both gardens. We live in the middle of a town, and when our gates are open we have a constant stream of passers by photographing and admiring both gardens."

- Burford

"The garden is looking great in this Autumn weather. One of the nicest things is that your planning has meant it's a year-round garden - right through. Thanks again, we get so much pleasure from it."

- Cotswolds

"We have so enjoyed the garden, all summer. It's been a great investment. Thank you for delivering such a wonderful addition to the house. The house and garden are in one of the Real Homes spring issues. Very exciting - the shots look great."

- Leckhampstead

"This has been a triumph."

- Kingham

"Really loving the garden! It's exactly as I expected but I'm loving it even more than expected!"
